Every week we try to meet up for gossip & unwinding ourselves. Everytime we hang out, we will set a theme and a challenge. We really love to DRESS-UP!!. Today's challenge is hair! This is big headache for me. I used to sport short hair and don't typically do anything special to my hair. But I still managed to do the SIMPLEST hairstyle - High Pony Tail!

it looks easy, but actually it took me half an hour to complete. I'm real noob when it comes to hair.

The mission of the day was also try out my new camera - the Casion ZR1000. 

Here's the first photo for us using the Casio ZR1000.

The Casio ZR1000 really did a good job here. I liked the way the photos turned out. Damn nice. Zan's OOTD style was the Sweet Princess Style. My OOTD style was Japanese Kawaii.

We were pretty late meeting up. By the time we reached Duxton Hill, we realized that the cafe was going to close.

But we were still happy to be there and we promised to come earlier next time.

We continued cam whoring in the cab. ** hmm I surely miss the times we had in Bangkok

Next: Marmalade Toast, 02-11 Ngee Ann City 

We went next to Marmalade Toast. This tiny cafe hidden at a quiet corner was serving light food, pastries & dessert.

We were kind of disappointed the interior design of the cafe - so we didnt expect much from the food.

But surprisingly, the lemon meringue sponge cake turned out very nicely with a soothing lemon taste & not too sour. There was soft sponge cake, moist. Overall, the taste & texture is just nice !)
We also order the monthy promotion → Chicken Quesadilles with lemonade (was ok except the foo wasn't warm enough)

** what is Quesadilles? It originally waS A Mexican dish which consists of tortillas filled with cheese & other ingredients such as lettuce & then folded into a half moon shape & served with salsa.

The restaurant uses an exhaust fan , so that you won't smell like the same BBQ after the meal & also - the restaurant won't be hazy with smoke.

 



Bornga serves us with different kind of side dishes. Totally yummy.



U see ! How much vegetables they give us ? A TON ! U may be wondering why Korean always "wrap their meats in lettuce" - is because they believe that if u can eat the whole wrap at once, it will bring you great fortune ! (so everybody - 大口大口的吃吧!!）

 

Besides,  veges do help to improve our digestion & also prevents cholesterol !

 

Kimchi soup (on top) → served with two big ribs.
Seafood pancake (left corner) → a little too heavy for me, too "filling", there is so much ingredients in a piece. I was quite full after finishing just 1 slice.
Sauces (right corner) → for u to dip your meat, sesame oil and bean paste.

Bornga uses charcoal to grill. The server helps us to grill. We can focus on eating and chatting ! We ordered pork belly & another pork with less fat ! My stomach will be bulging like a pig after this.

 

Grilling in process ! The taste is just so good. Especially when wrapped with fresh vegetables, it is crunchy & yummy & refreshing.

 

Chilled Omija-cha is served at the end of the meal. It is a bit sour but it can help "refresh" your mouth.

 

What is Omija?  This is a Korean herbal tea made from berries of Schisandra Chinensis (in chinese this is called 五味子 wu wei zi → Literally mean 5 tastes). The health benefits of Omija-cha are: it strengthens the heart & lungs, it lowers blood pressure level & boosts the immune system.

 

Will definitely come back. Food is good. Ventilation is strong and there is no BBQ smell in my clothes and in my hair.

As you know - my make up skill is pretty poor especially so when using fake lashes. I can spend an hour trying to paste it to my eyelids but still FAIL !!!

1. Paste eye sticker, so the beautician can apply lashes accurately (painless during the whole process)

2. Selecting and using different lengths of lashes for different parts of the eyelid (gives you a super natural look)

3. Lolita also uses a clean & safer formula adhesive (as our eye area is very sensitive - the glue must be safe & harmless and not irritate the eyes)

4. Applying the lashes stalk by stalk (the beautician painstakingly does both eyes at the same time. She compares both eyes while applying the lashes instead of finished 1 eye and then start to do the other eye. In this way, both eyes' lashes look equally balanced) 

5. She ensures every lash won't tangle together (beautician blows dry the eyes & sprays a little water to make sure the lashes will hold better. It's a totally painless process.)

Results: (me without make up, please ignore my pimples)

Looks very natural, I love the "wing lashes" at the end corner of each eye. I look quite pretty even without make up hahaha !

Aftercare:

1. Don't go swimming, steaming or sauna for first 24 hours

2. Avoid using Glycol facial products (such as make-up removers, masks and cleansers)

3. Normally the lashes can last around 3-4 weeks (you can make another appointment for refill and touch-up)
 

My beautician is Jelina. Go look for her to do your eyes. She was really gentle & merticulous & careful & friendly ! Has very steady hands. I'm really pleased with the quality of her service.

Yet another outing with my bff → Zan.  Today we both wore white shirts and jean shorts !

I combined 2 photos into 1. Next time I will use Photoshop to mesh the photos perfectly.

We decided to find a new cafe where we can chill & gossip. Most important criteria - the café has to be easily accessible by MRT

We decided on Strangers Reunion ! This is convenient to get to !

How to go there??

1. Drop off at Outram MRT
2. Exit at entance F (and follow Eu Tong Seng Road)
3. Walk all the way straight till you see Kampong Bahru sign at the opposite road (with General Hospital on your right)
4. Across the road, continue walking through a series of shop houses till you see the cafe on your left

 The café has a very cosy homely feeling

 Pretty, old school & vintage nostalgic feel to it.

 Pastries & kitchen area. Desserts look tempting right ?

 Deep concentration, we need to decide what to eat.

 Magic!! Love the coffee art!!  (Magic = double ristretto + milk) ** what is ristretto?  > is very tiny shot of expresso !

 Is magic for me and ice latte for her. But we both think the coffee is too bitter for us.

 Waffles with greek yogurt - topped with banana & strawberries - the greek yogurt has a very creamy texture, with a little sour aftertaste ! But it feels very appetizing and goes really go well with the waffle!

 Thin crust salmon pizza - wow ! Is tasty and just the right size for us two girls.

 What a cosy afternoon.

 As you can see, the capacity of the café is quite small, with very limited seating. It really depends on your luck if you can get a nice seat or not.

By the time we arrived, this was the only table left. We were like school girls - eating & drinking while perched on these tiny chairs and enjoying our tea time over a tiny table. 

Thank goodness we are quite petite and can fit in.

FINALLY,  we met after a month!! The main purpose for this outing is for my BFF-Kiki's Pre-birthday celebration & also gossip time for us!! Usually, I hardly do the planning. As you know la, typical libra > poor in making decisions.  Took me 1-2hour stayed in the Craftholic shop in Bugis. After that, struggling in choosing bouquet (lily?, white roses? red roses? sunflower?)

Hoshino Coffee (a Japanese cafe) - located in New wing - Plaza Singapore. Food display is really TEMPTING as all are LOOK so REAL!!! 

We waited around 45mins!! Zan & Adeline sit down instead. We r just too hungry!! We placed our order while we in Q.

Finally!! FOOD is here!!! HUNGRY!!!

(clockwise) 1. Pot-baked curry rice (initially was told that hv strong smell of beef, but it damn good!! rich & aromatic!)
2. Pancake soufflé with chocolate banana (perharp we too hungry,  this dessert really cheer us up. SOFT & fluffy like a sponge!)
3. Green tea ice cream with red bean ( I'm a big FAN of green tea!! SATISFIED!)
4. Fuwa-fuwa hoshino soufflé (egg on top with tomato based rice. Break the top, it look like a bubble form. It taste very "eggy". Another YUMMY dish!)
