I was visiting the Yong Siak Street branch and oh my - it is a great place to chill out, distress, detox on a lazy afternoon. You can take hang around the whole time and no one will chase u away or send u hints to move your butt lol.

A few white furry maltese dogs lazing in the bike baskets would have completed this photo lol.

I do like the clean lines and pine wood feel. Is a great place for your selfies and instagrams (hahaha).

We were so fortunately that day. There was a cheery little pop-up flower store that made the café so much more happening and pretty.

Salted Caramel cup cake (upper left) & Nutella Tart (bottom right) - has a chocolatish taste and a bitterish after taste.

My bf & friends even ordered custom made cupcakes from Plain Vanilla for my birthday.

I'm so glad that Plain Vanilla practise sustainability. I just completed my Sustainable Practices module last week at TafTC school. By developing a sustainable practice, we can save mother earth by reducing the amount of natural resources used, reduce waste & be green!!!

Plain Vanilla practice sustainability by recycling. They encourage you to return used 6-cupcake or 12-cupcake box for reuse and recycling & u will get a FREE cupcake.

Food → Balzac Brasserie (French Bistro)

Balzac Brasserie

Address: Bras Basah, Bugis
9 Bras Basah Road
Rendezvous Gallery #01-01, Singapore 189559
Operating Hours: Mon - Thurs 1130hrs - 2230hrs
Fri 1130hrs - 0000hrs
Sat 1100hrs - 0000hrs
Sun 1100hrs - 2230hrs

This was the day we were supposed to go to Esquina, but it was closed, so we decided to head to Balzac instead. Executive Chef Jean-Charles Dubois is its brain child and proudly serves up a classic taste of home, drawing inspiration from his own family’s recipes.

We found the eatery to be quiet, relaxing and extremely accessible. The staff very friendly & cheerful.

Table set up & menu

A bottle of white to unwind after a stressful week.

Here comes our starters. Fresh oysters !

Cheese and walnuts always pair beautifully

Escargots

Scallops are my favourite !

My main of the day - cod & bacon with bean base soup. Tastes so so so so good ! Especially the gravy ! You don't want to waste any single drop and surely wanna savour every drop.

For guys, the chef recommended - beef cheek ! It was very tender.

And more food for guys: angus steak - awesome sized portions

Nicole chose duck confit !

Desserts
Jeff ordered 5 out of 6 options on the menu. That's insane. Our stomaches were about to burst !

 Créme Brulee

Lemon tart with meringue snow! Taste super refreshing.

 Apple Crumble!

Hot dessert - Rice Pudding with cameral sauce + toasted pistachios

Hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream

Yet another happy outing with Tian Xiang, Nicole, Jeff and Bob.
